                             WILLIAM J. BARKER

LAKE ODESSA - William J. Barker, 73, of Rte 1, Lake Odessa, died Jan. 10 at the 
Provincial House, Hastings.

Born Oct. 4, 1916 in Grand Rapids, he was the son of Donald and Emilene Sullivan 
Barker. He grew up in the Hubbardston area and moved to the Lake Odessa area in 
1951.

He attended Hubbardston Elementary and Carson City High School.

He married Geraldine Wright April 19, 1941 in Hubbardston. He was employed by 
General Tire for 32 years, retiring in 1978 due to ill health. He also farmed.

He was a member of St.Edward's Catholic Church of Lake Odessa, the Knights of 
Columbus, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine; five sons, William and Tom of Clarksville, 
Donald of Lansing, Fredrick of East Lansing and Charles of Belding; two 
daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Emilene) Vogel of Beal City and Mrs.Michael (Mary) 
Richardson of Clarksville; 29 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert in 1961.

A Rosary will be said Friday at 7:30 at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Mass 
will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St.Edward's Catholic Church, with the 
Rev. James Bozung officiating. Burial will be in St.John the Baptist cemetery in 
Hubbardston.

The family will receive friends  and relatives Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and 
Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
