(Kimmel) Barker, 86, died Friday, April 24, 1981 at Pennock Hospital. She was born June 25, 1894 in Roxanne Township, Eaton County, the daughter of Edwin and Mary (Carey) Spitzer. She was a graduate of Charlotte High School. She married Alva Kimmel April 26, 1913 in Charlotte. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1961. She married James Barker in 1967. He preceded her in death in September 1979. She was a member of the Central Untied Methodist Church of Lake Odessa, the united Methodist Women’s Club and was active in the Republication Party of Ionia. Mrs. Barker is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Dawn Cramer of Mulliken, Mrs. Mary Jane McClelland of Hastings, Mrs. Helen Austen of Lansing, and Mrs. Janet Haney of Lake Odessa; one son, Robert Kimmel of Mecosta; three step-sons, Jack and Curtis Barker, both of Florida and Loren Barker of Holt; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, from the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel of Lake Odessa. Rev. Stephen Keller officiated. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa.
