Irvin C. Barkus, 56, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home at 350 North 
street.  He was born April 7, 1898, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of William and 
Katie McCarthy Barkus.

He was a former employee of the Ionia Manufacturing Company and had been 
recently employed as salesman for Berger Motor Sales.  He was a member of SS. 
Peter and Paul church also a member of the Elks and Moose lodges.  He served 
four years in World War I.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, two sons, William and Thomas, at home; three 
daughters, Carol J., at home, Mrs. Jack Schuerman and Mrs. Thomas Schuetz of 
Newport, Ky.; one grandson; one brother, Raymond Barkus of Lyons.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at Myers funeral home.  
Requiem high mass will be sung Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock at SS. Peter and 
Paul church.  Interment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
