Sentinel Standard – Thursday, 18 March 1920

Mrs. Herbert Barkwell died in Grand Rapids last Saturday, and the remains were 
taken to Hudson, Mich., for interment.  Mrs. Barkwell spent her childhood in 
Ionia her maiden name being Minnie Steadman.   The family was well known here, 
the home being near the second ward school on State Street.  It is many years 
since any of the family lived here.  Mr. Barkwell was also a resident of Ionia 
some years ago.
