James Daniel Barna, PhD,JD

DAYTON, OHIO-James Daniel Barna, PhD,JD. age 81 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away 
December 17, 2021. He was bornFebruary 5, 1940 to the late John W. and Helen L. 
Barna. Jim grew up in Ionia and was a 1958 graduate of SS.Peter and Paul 
Academy. The Barna family owned and operated the former Clothing Care Center in 
Ionia.
In 1969 Jim graduated from St.Louis University with a degree in Clinical 
Psychology and in 1978 from the University of Dayton School of Law. Jim was 
proud of his career as a Forensic Clinical Psychologist and was a long time 
faculty member of Wright State University of Dayton, Ohio. 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers,Mark M. 
John Jr., and  Peter Barna; and sisters,Cecilia M. and Catherine E.Barna. Jim 
will be missed by his loving daughter, Lisa (Mark) Barnard; grandchildren, Jesse 
and Jamie Barnard; sister, Mary Ann (Robert)Adair; brother, Joe (Vickie) Barna; 
nieces and nephews. 

Family will receive friends Saturday January 8, 2022 from 2 p.m. until the time 
of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore 
Rd.Dayton, Ohio. to leave a memory of Jim or a condolence for his family, visit
