Mrs. F. E. Barnard received word last week of the serious illness of her 
husband, Frank E. Barnard, in the Mt. Alexis hospital at Bismark, North 
Dakota, and later that he had died following an operation for cancer of the 
stomach.  He was buried Tuesday.  Mrs. Barnard and her daughter were unable to 
attend the funeral and burial service which was conducted there.

Mr. Barnard had been a traveling salesman for many years and about ten or 
fifteen years ago came here to reside.  Later, Mrs. Barnard moved into the 
Demorest flats where she has lived for the past ten years.  He made frequent 
visits to his family up to six years ago, but they have always kept in 
correspondence with him. 

He was born in Ionia county and is a brother of Levi Barnard of Berlin Center 
and a relative of Mrs. Sheldon Curtis of Saranac.  He leaves besides his wife 
one daughter, Beth Barnard, to mourn his loss.
