The body of William Lincoln Barnes who died Sunday evening following an automobile accident near Ypsilanti will arrive in Ionia Tuesday evening on the Grand Trunk evening train following the funeral services at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray L. Barnes, in Detroit. The body will be taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. K. R. Smith, Jr. from where the funeral party will go Wednesday afternoon for a prayer service and burial in Highland Park cemetery. William died late Sunday in an Ypsilanti hospital following the accident in which as he dodged a car which appeared from an intersecting road, his automobile struck a cement culvert and was overturned upon him. Surviving him are his parents and one brother, Austin Barnes, also of Detroit. William was named after his grandfather, Dr. William B. Lincoln, one of Ionia’s pioneers and Ionia’s first physician and teacher, and was in Ionia in May, 1924 when he unveiled the memorial tablet to Dr. Lincoln which was placed on the W. B. Lincoln school. The unveiling was sponsored by Stevens Thomson Mason Chapter D.A.R., which was organized by the young man’s aunt, Mrs. W. L. Barnes, now of Atlanta Ga., and of which his grandmother Mrs. H. B. Barnes, was also a member. Relatives now living in Ionia are A.B. Sibley and Charles Jennings, cousins. Miss Nell Sibley, also a cousin, lives in Lapeer.
