L. Barnes, who resides in Atlanta. Mrs. Barnes left Ionia a few years ago to live with her sister, Mrs. Jennie Lincoln-Nellis, of Santa Monica, but failing health induced her to go to Atlanta this summer. Mrs. Barnes was one of Ionia’s few remaining pioneers. She was a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. B. Lincoln. Dr. Lincoln was Ionia’s first physician and came here with the Dexter colony when Ionia was first settled. Mrs. Barnes’ mother was Anthy Arnold, daughter of Oliver Arnold, another Ionia first settler. She was the widow of Dr. Horace B. Barnes, who was one of Ionia’s leading physicians for many years and the old home on East Main street is now the property of George Curtis. Two sons, Dr. W. L. Barnes, of Atlanta, and Ray Barnes, of Detroit, survive. Announcements of the funeral services have not been made but Mrs. Barnes’ remains will be brought to Ionia for burial, according to a telegram received from Mrs. R. L. Barnes.
