The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Tuesday, September 22, 1908

Mrs. Laura K. Barnes, a resident of East Main street, this side of the 
Catholic cemetery, died Monday at the age of 36 years.  The deceased came here 
a year ago from Manistee, and was an Indian by birth.  She leaves five 
children, and is said to have been a hard working woman, who was trying to buy 
the little home where she died.  Funeral at 2 o’clock tomorrow, interment in 
Highland park cemetery.
