John Barnes, 18, who died August 23 at Fort Benning, Georgia, will be held Sunday afternoon, September 2 at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church in Lyons. The Rev. Howard Fuller will officiate. Prayer services will be held at the home at 1 o’clock. Pvt. Barnes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh D. Barnes of Lyons, is a paratrooper and died of injuries received when taking his last jump before he was to receive a furlough. He entered the army March 7, 1945. The body will arrive Friday morning at 3 a.m. from Fort Benning. Burial will be in the Muir cemetery. Pvt. Barnes is survived by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one grandmother.
