The funeral services will be conducted from the home of his niece, Mrs. Frank Young, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mr. Barnes had been sick for a long time but continued to live alone, Mrs. Young going twice daily to look after him. One morning last week when Mr. Young went to see the aged man he found that he was badly burned about the knee and an inquiry failed to reveal just how the accident to Mr. Barnes happened, but it is believed that he went to sleep while his leg was so close to the stove and the clothing caught fire. He was one of a family of five boys, one of whom, William Barnes, of Charlevoix, survives. [Transcriber’s note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in Portland Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/b/barnes28920nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
