CLARENCE BARNES

Funeral services were held Monday (Nov. 26) at St. Patrick Catholic church in
Portland for Clarence E. Barnes, 81, of 712 Hill st. Mr. Barnes, born Oct. 7, 1892 near Lake
Odessa, died Nov. 23 at the veteran's facility in Ann Arbor where he had resided for the past two
weeks. 

Mrs. Barnes, the former Rose Wohischeid, died in Aug., 1972.

Mr. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha Oakes and Miss Barbara Barnes,
both of Portland; five grandchildren, and on sister, Gertrude Martin of Webberville.

Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the Neller Funeral Home. Graveside military
services were held by members of the Dale E. Hyland American Legion  Post, of which Mr.
Barnes had been a member for 30 years and a past commander. Burial was in Portland
cemetery.
