December 24, 1965 Services Held For George W. Barnes George W. Barnes, 68, of 7034 Reiser S.W. Wyoming, passed away early Thursday morning at his home following a lingering illness. A native of Wayland, he had been a Grand Rapids area resident for a number of years and was employed as a Machinist by the Pennsylvanian Railroad for forty years retiring in 1957. He married Lila Johnson of Grand Rapids, February 13, 1932, and had resided at his present home for 27 years. Surviving are his wife; a son Max Barnes of Grand Rapids; a step-daughter, Mrs Merlin (Margaret) Moe and a step-son George Johnson both of Lake Odessa; two sisters; Mrs. Everett (Bertha) Young of Quincy, Ill, and Mrs.Grace Chrystler of Detroit; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. Paul Bennehoff officiated.
