Barnes 59 Died Unexpectedly Mrs. Mary E. Barnes, 59, route one, passed away suddenly at her farm home on Sunday afternoon about 4:50 p.m. She had been in ill health and under the doctors care. Mrs.Barnes had been a local area resident for a number of years and her preset resident was east of the former Algodon school. She married Frank Barnes at Hastings, September 11, 1920. Mrs.Barnes, the former Mary Boughman was a member of the Clarksville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter, South Boston Grange and a Red Cross worker for many years. Surviving are her husband; a daughter Mrs.Wilson (Wanda) Guernsey of route 2, Hastings; four sons, Kenneth of Hastings, Richard of Costa Mesa, Calif., Donald of Glendale, Calif. and Duane of Shelton Conn.; four sisters, Mrs Naomi Briggs of Middleville, Mrs Bertha DeWitt of Florida, Mrs Margaret Croy and Mrs. Pearl Shance of Lansing; six brothers, Charles Boughman of Middleville, William and Theodore of Detroit, George of Owosso, Benjamin of Lowell and Fred of Grand Rapids and 18 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Pickens funeral chapel, on Thursday (today) at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Lakeside cemetery. Rev. F.J. Fitch officiated.
