Barnes, aged 86 years, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. J. R. Irving of Lyons Friday after an illness of 10 weeks resulting from an attack of flu. Mrs. Barnes was a native of New York, and came to Michigan with her parents when a child of 10 years. They settled in Portland and until Mrs. Barnes came to Lyons to live four years ago, she has resided in Portland. For eight years she had suffered total blindness, but was never known to complain. He only son, Edwin L. Barnes, died a few years ago, and Mrs. Irving is one of the three nieces, her only near relatives who survive her. The funeral services will be held from the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Irving Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The burial will be in the Lyons cemetery.
