Barbara was born on Dec.30, 1992 in Grand Rapids. She was a senior at Saranac High School where she was active in softball and volleyball, along with being a dedicated fan of both Saranac and Ionia Sports teams. Barbara was a loving, wonderful, beautiful, fun, happy, spirited and kind person who always put the needs of her family and friends first. She always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She loved her family, her friends, and life in general. She enjoyed her summers camping at Snows Lake. We were truly blessed to have this young lady in our lives for the short time she was with us. Barbara is survived by her mother, Denise Downs of Saranac; her brothers, Andrew(Carmen Nauman)Downs of Grand Rapids and Daniel Barnick of Saranac; her nieces, Shayla and Simone and her nephew, Blaze. She is also survived by her grandparents,DeWayne Downs and Barbara Downs both of Saranac, her Aunt Deb (Brian Kenyon)Downs of Ionia and her Uncle David (Nancy) Downs of Saranac; cousins, James (Heather) Bledsoe, Matthew (Jen) Bledsoe, Erin (Andy) Paiz, Allison Downs, Luke Higgins, and Nathan Downs, and her "special true sister" Taylor Smith. Barbara loved her pets,Red,Stella and Nike. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Easton United Methodist Church with interment at the Saranac Cemetery. Her generosity continued, even after her passing, by donating to the Gift of Life program. Contributions, in Barbara's memory, can be made to the Gift of Life Program or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
