Funeral services were held from the residence Sunday, in charge of Rev. W. H. Skentlebury. She had been in failing health for some time, her sickness being aggravated by a cold contracted several weeks ago, which in her enfeebled condition she was unable to overcome. Mrs. Barr was born in Vernon, Shiawassee county, July 7, 1847. Her maiden name was Rose E. Cronkhite. On November 25, 1865, she was united in marriage to Oscar Hendee, the couple settling on a piece of land located three quarters of a mile south of Collins. Mr. Hendee died in August, 1897, and five years later the widow moved to Portland. In September 1906 she married James Barr of Danby, who passed away several years later. Four children from her first marriage survive. They are Mrs. Ida Otto, of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Keith Otto, Grand Ledge; Mrs. E.L. Goodwin and Lee Hendee, of Portland.
