Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 26 Jul 1944

Thomas Barrett, 27-year-old truck driver and resident of Detroit, died suddenly
Monday morning as the result of a heart attack.  Employed by the United States
Trucking company Barrett had just stepped from his truck to a Detroit restaurant
for something to eat when he dropped dead of a heart attack.

He was married to the former Velma Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee of
Ionia.  Surviving besides the wife, Velma, are five children, Shirley, Gloria,
Dean, William and Vonnia, all at home.  The family had made their home in
Detroit for four years and previous to that time had resided in Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two 2 o’clock at the Myers
funeral home.  Rev. John Young will officiate and burial will be in Highland
Park cemetery.
