George Allen Barrett, 78, of Carson City, died Saturday in Clearwater, 
Florida.  He was born June 30, 1917 in Gratiot County.  He was graduated in 
1932 from St. Mary’s Academy, Carson City and he married Donna McCruig in 
1953.  He retired from the Ionia Prison System in 1977, was a member of 
American Legion Post No. 380 of Carson City, and was a World War II Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Carson City; his children, Jackie Wright 
of Grand Rapids, Martha Bresky of Caro; Stanley Cooper of Hubbardston, Walter 
Barrett of Mesa, Arizona, Michael Barrett of Lyons, and Matthew Barrett of 
Muir; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one brother, Donell 
Barrett of Mira Loma, California.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with 
the Rev. William Reitz officiating.  The family will be at Schnepp Funeral 
Home in Carson City, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Tuesday.  The Rosary will be 
recited at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in the Mary Knoll Cemetery.  A memorial has 
bane established for the Carson City Hospital in care of the funeral home.
