The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, March 11, 1939

Mrs. Adell Kitson Bartholomew, 75, a former Ionian, died Saturday morning at 
Blodgett hospital in Grand Rapids following an illness of six weeks.  She was 
born June 10, 1863 the daughter of Rev. Nelson Heald and Hester Rowley.  Her 
maternal and paternal grandparents were pioneer settlers of Orleans township 
settling there in 1844.  Mrs. Bartholomew was active in music circles at the 
Dildine church.  She has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Merritt D. 
Hoyt, of Lowell for several years.  Besides her daughter, Mrs. Bartholomew is 
survived by a grandson, Fred K. Hoyt of Pittsburg, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter in 
Lowell.  Burial will be in the Oakhill cemetery in Ionia.  Rev. Roy W. Merrill 
of Berien Springs will officiate at the services.
