About the year 1860 they moved to Ionia city. Mr. Bartlett went into the civil war as a member of Co. A, 21st Michigan infantry, and in 1862 died in hospital. For the past 38 years Mrs. Bartlett has lived in the house on Lafayette street where her death occurred. Mrs. Bartlett was a member of the Church of Christ which she joined the year after its organization, in 1859, when it was under the pastorate of Rev. Isaac Errett. At the time of her death, Mrs. Bartlett was the oldest living member of the Church of Christ in years. She was also a member of the W.R.C. and the Pioneer society. She was born in Springfield, N.Y. in 1824 and married to Benjamin Bartlett in 1842. Six children were born to them. Mrs. Cora Perham and Mrs. G.W. Clark, of Cedar Falls are still living.
