Nellis Maynard Clayson Bartlett, 84, of Saranac, passed away Thursday Feb. 14, 
2002, in Middleville.  He was born August 14, 1917 in Ionia County the son of 
Clinton and Emma (Dodd) Bartlett.  He was Saranac Fire Department Chief for 15 
years and a fireman for 30 years.  He was a past member of Saranac Community 
Club and a past member of Saranac Community Church.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Bartlett of Middleville; children, Daniel 
(Ann) Bartlett of Middleville, Michael (Lil) Bartlett of Nevada, Susan (Marc) 
DeMaat of Mears, John (Antinette) Bartlett of California, Melissa (Mitchell) 
Vroman of Saranac and Ellen (Michael) DeYoung of Rockford; sister Carol Brooks 
of Saranac; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Saranac Community Church with 
Rev. Roger G. Timmerman officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday 2 p.m. to 4 
p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.  Anyone wishing 
may make a memorial contribution to Saranac Fire Department or Barry County 
Hospice.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
