Bartlett, widow of the late Rev. A. R. Bartlett, (well known to early settlers as Catharine Stevenson) died at her home in Detroit on the 9th inst. The Michigan Christian Advocate in announcing her death, editorially characterizes Mrs. Bartlett as a “woman of unusually clear cut and strong convictions, who held to them at any cost.” She had a sense of righteousness and stood for it at all times. Her life was one of constant devotion and of unswerving fidelity. One hardly judged from meeting her that she had nearly completed eighty-one years of life as she would have done next May. Mrs. Bartlett was the last of seven children of Jesse Stevenson, who came into the Grand River valley in 1837, first locating at Lyons and afterwards moving to Ionia. The other children were John, George, and Edward Stevenson, Mrs. Sarah Young, Mrs. Hampton Rich and Mrs. Jas. M. Kidd.
