Ionia Sentinel Standard - September 16, 1957

                      California Artist Dies, Ionia Native

Word was recently received in Ionia by Mayor C. Anthony Balice of the death of 
Dana Bartlett, California Artist.According to his widow he died July 3 of this 
year at the age of 74. He had been in Los Angeles Calif.40 years and was a 
native of Ionia.

Besides being an artist Mr.Barlett was at one time celloist with Willard-
Bartlett Concert Co. of New York City band, celloist and member of the Lafebre 
saxophone Quartette, U.S.Tour in 1902 to 1905. He not only wrote several 
selections but his recordings wer marketed.

For over 20 years he specialized in paintings of California the North west, and 
the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. He also spent some time in Europe in 
1924.

His painting were represented in many exhibitions and permanent collections and 
he was president of several California art Clubs and a former art instructor.

Paintings by the late artist are available from his widow, Adelene Bartlett, 641 
South Berendo Street, Los Angeles, Calif.
