From the condition of the body it appeared death came Friday night. He was employed at the store and had roomed there for years. He had not been feeling well for several days prior to his death, but had been up and around. Heart trouble was the cause. Mr. Barton was born in Niagara county, N.Y., Dec. 24, 1861, and came to Portland with his parents 51 years ago. He worked on a farm until he became associated with his brothers, Will and Jay, in the implement business in the village. He is survived by a son, George Barton, who resides at Stockton, Cal., a sister and three brothers—Mrs. Fred Dewey, A. Jay Barton, Portland; John Barton, Alma, and William Barton, Fowler. Funeral services were held at the home of Jay Barton Monday afternoon, Rev. Fred Williams officiating.
