He was born Oct. 7, 1913 and raised in Casper, Wyo. He served in the Navy during World War II seeing action in the Pacific Theater. He moved to Miami Feb. 2, 1996 from Portland where he had worked as a comptroller for the state for 14 years. Prior to his work as a comptroller, he was an accountant for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oakland, Calif. for 35 years. On June 20, 1954 he married Twyla M. Taylor in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1998. survivors include son Bob Barton of Portland; two step- sons, Larry Stinson and Jim Barton both of Miami, Okla.; grandchildren, Saran Barton of Miami, and Robert Barton of Norfolk, Va.; and great-grandson, Jacob of Miami. Graveside services were held Dec. 3 at G.A.R. Cemetery with Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Military honors were provided by the Floyd L. Perry American Legion Post #147 Veterans Funeral Detail.
