Smith, in Campbell last Sunday, July 3rd, after only a week’s illness of inflammation of the bladder. Mr. Bashore was born February 27, 1830, and was married July 4, 1850. To this union were born eight children, five of whom live to mourn the death of a kind and loving father—Mesdames Wm. Smith and H. Wise of Campbell, Jacob of Beverton, another son in Missouri and a daughter in Kansas, the latter two of whom he visited after attending the conference of his church in May. He returned home from this trip on Thursday before he was taken sick. Mr. Bashore came to Michigan 22 years ago and was converted to the German Baptist faith 52 years ago. He has always been a zealous worker in his church and was known far and wide as a man of sterling qualities and an example of the sect to which he belonged. On his death bed he said he knew of no enemies, and surely had he an enemy he would have known it, but his life was such that to him there was none. Since his wife’s death about five years ago he had made his home with his daughter, and here in his last few days of life, loving hands cared for him and did all in human power to restore him to health, but to no avail. Death came to soothe the pain of the sufferer, and a good life was ended. The funeral was held today at the Brethren church, Rev. F. M. Smith officiating. The burial took place in the Clarksville cemetery.
