Basner, 58, Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Belding, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. Teddy William Basner was born April 4, 1938, in Bay City, the son of Dan and Myrtle Graham Basner. On May 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Margaret Jane Geldersma, in Grattan. He attended school in Belding. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1955 to 1960 and served for one year in the United States Coast Guard. He had been employed at both Bil-Mar and IBP in Storm Lake. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Storm Lake; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Laura and Robert Egan of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Robin and Clinton Akers, Karen Basner, Shawn and Tony Pieczko, Patricia Basner, all of Storm Lake, Marjourie and Michael Carnes of Newell, Iowa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Sally of Valley City, N.D., Ted Jr. and Betty of Alta, Iowa; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at the Fratzke Funeral Home, Storm Lake, Iowa, with the Rev. Kenneth Storck of St. Mark Lutheran Church officiating. Graveside services were held Feb. 14 at the Storm Lake Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
