Ionia Sentinel Standard, 24 Dec 1971

Mrs. Vera Frances Basom, 66, died at the Avery nursing home in Montcalm county 
Thursday morning.  Born in Isabella county, June 8, 1905, she was the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Dargitz.  June 7, 1944, she was married to Lloyd Basom and 
he died December 15, 1962.

She was a lifelong resident of Ionia, and was employed at Mitchell Bentley 
corporation from 1942 until 1948.  She was a member of the Minnie Howard club 
of Ionia Methodist church and also belonged to Ionia Senior Citizens.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Eloise Edwards of route 1, Orleans; five 
grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Carl Dargitz of Roscommon; 
two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Decker of Barryton and Mrs. Leora Nelson of Blanchard.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home.  Rev. 
Theodore Forbes of First Christian church will officiate and interment will be 
at Easton cemetery.
