Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 23 Nov 1962

Lee Basom, 65, of Six Lakes, former Ionia resident, died Thursday morning at his
home after a long illness.  He was born in the Ionia area, May 3, 1897, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Basom, and attended Ionia schools.  He was employed at
Hayes-Ionia factory and later moved to Grand Rapids where he lived until his
retirement two years ago.  Since then he had resided at Six Lakes.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Berry of Grand
Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Gazella of Freeport, and Mrs. Frances Dye of
Ionia.  A brother, Lloyd of Ionia, died in January.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the
Youngman funeral chapel in Lakeview with burial at Blythefield Memory Garden in
Grand Rapids.
