Bassett, 69, died Saturday evening at 7 o’clock at her home on North Fourth street in Lake Odessa after a ten month’s illness. She was born July 30, 1886 in Irving township, Barry county, the daughter of William and Lydia Kidder and had lived in the Lake Odessa area for 25 years. March 20, 1902, she was married to Loren Bassett at Middleville and resided on their farm northwest of Lake Odessa until moving to the village about four years ago. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the United Brethren church for 38 years and a life member of the Women’s Missionary Association of the church. Surviving besides her husband, Loren, are two daughters, Mrs. Christena Howe and Mrs. Beatrice Strong of Lake Odessa; one son, Leroy of Nashville; one sister, Mrs. Mary Dukes of Freeport; five brothers, Ralph, Walter, Eugene and Arthur Kidder of Hastings and James of Freeport; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Pickens funeral chapel until Tuesday noon when it will be taken to the Calvary United Brethren church where services will be held at 2 o’clock with the Rev. I. H. Osgood officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside cemetery.
