BATCHELOR IONIA-Mr Gerald E. Batchelor, 61, of Jermyne Street, Ionia, died Jan. 13, near Carson City. He was born on July 12,1918 in Lowell, the son of Frank and Leah Wicks Batchelor. The family moved to Lake Odessa, and he graduated from Lake Odessa High School. He married Marie Ginenaugh on March 28, 1941, in Hannibal, MO. He entered the service in 1941 and served with the United States Army. Mr Batchelor was discharged in 1945 and returned to Lake Odessa, where he remained until moving to Ionia in 1949. He worked in construction for 20 years, and worked for the last 11 years as a engineer at Integrall Engineering, Ionia. Mr Batchelor is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Gerald of Lowell and Raymond of Saranac; one daughter, Mrs Edward (Judy) Batema of Grand Rapids; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Theo of Rochester; and three sisters, Mrs Elmer (Ila) Swanson of Lowell, Mrs Emerson (Frances) Staler of Lake Odessa and Mrs Carl (Aileen) Goetz of Venice, Fla. Funeral services were held at the Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Dow of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial gardens and a memorial fund has been established to the cardiac care unit of the Ionia County Memorial hospital.
