Currigan currigan1932@concast.net September 15, 2023, 12:49 pm Belding Banner-News Thursday March 18, 1954 Young Lad Dies In Panama Zone Sunday Morning Mr.and Mrs.Guy Clifford of R.R.3 received the sad news on Sunday that their little grandson Gerald Clifford Bates, aged three years and four months, had passed away unexpectedly at Fort Amador Naval Base in Panama Canal Zone.His parents,Mr.and Mrs.Guy B.Bates noticed int he morning that his breathing was not natural and rushed him to the hospital where he died soon afterward. Gerald Clifford Bates was born December 4, 1950, the son of Mr.and Mrs.Guy B.Bates, the mother being the former Helen Margaret Clifford and they had been living in Panama for the past year where the father is stationed at Fort Amador Naval Base. The parents and their two daughters, Nancy and Mary are expected to arrive at the Guy Clifford home Friday, coming by plane.The children's body will arrive later and funeral arrangements will be in charge of Huffman Funeral Home pending the arrival of the remains. Surviving besides the parents and twos sisters, are the maternal grandparents, Mr.and Mrs.Guy Clifford fo R.R.3 and the parental grandparents.Mr.and Mr.Guy B.Bates Sr., of Lebanon, Ore.
