Lucille J. Bates, 81, of Ionia passed away July 4, 2015.  She was born Jan. 21,
1934, in Ionia the daughter of Harry and Helen (Gates) Martin.  Lucille married
Donald E. Bates June 28, 1952, in Ionia, he preceded her in death in 2011.  She
was a longtime member of Smyrna Bible Church where she also played organ for
many years.  Lucille loved to knit, craft, camp, scrapbook and play computer games.

She is survived by her children, Michael Bates of Wyoming, Debra (Scott)
Christiansen of the Philippines, Timothy (Gena) Bates of Ohio and Phillip Bates
of Ionia; brother James Martin of Arizona; grandchildren Nathan, Ruth, Micah,
Joel, Amos, Caleb, Tammy, Timothy, Debbie, Dani, Ethan and Seth; and 13 great
grandchildren.  Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and
two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Smyrna
Bible Church with Pastor Ron David and Pastor Darwin Hassert officiating. 
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be on Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Those wishing may make memorial
contributions to Alpha Family Center in Greenville or Smyrna Bible Church.
