Ionia Sentinel Standard, 15 Feb 1968

A lifelong Portland area resident, Mrs. Grace M. Bates, 83, died Wednesday at a
nursing home in Ionia.  She was born April 19, 1884 in Westphalia township the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jenkins.  Her only survivor is a cousin, Herman
Knowles of Cuba, N.Y.  She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic church, Portland.

Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 8 o’clock at Neller funeral home in
Portland.  Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick church with
burial in Portland cemetery.
