Lake Odessa Wave-Times Fri. July 13, 1917

George Baton, 45, and George Batson, Jr. 4, were instantly killed, Oscar 
Rasmussen, 5, fatally injured and Mrs Geo. Batson, 40, Mrs O.A. Rasmussen, 40 
Dorothy Batson, 10, William Batson, 6, and the Batson baby and Irving Allen 
injured, when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by a passenger 
train at a crossing six miles southeast of Belding Wednesday afternoon. Mr Batson 
is prominent in Ionia, a former restaurant keeper there and Mr Rasmussen well-
known in Greenville.
