Rose A. Batson, 86, of Ionia, passed away Saturday April 5, 2003 at Heartland 
Health Care Center in Ionia.  She was born February 14, 1917 in Ionia the 
daughter of Martin and Anna (Gall) Halik.  She married Otto Batson April 28, 
1942 in Ionia, who preceded her in death in 1981.

Rose was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, past Regeant of the D 
of I, past city council member of Ionia Literary Council, and secretary to the 
Superintendent of the city.

She is survived by her brother Martin Halik of Belding; sisters, Lillian 
Neustifter of Ionia, Angeline and (Florian)Barker of Muir; several nieces and 
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto, two sisters, Anna and Mary, and 
one brother Joe.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at SS Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church with Rev. Melvin Fox celebrant.  Interment will be at Mt. 
Olivet Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 
and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to 
Religious Retirement.
