Lake Odessa Wave
     CURTISS A BAUM PASSES AWAY
   Curtiss A. Baum, 23 passed away Monday night at Kent Community Hospital, Grand
Rapids, following a long illness.  he was admitted to Blodgett Memorial Hospital Oct. 23 and 
underwent brain surgery and was transferred to Kent Community on Jan. 20.
   He was born July 13, 1948, in Hastings, Barry County, the son of James and
Bernadine (Brown) Baum and was a 1966 graduate of Lake Odessa High School.
   He began work at the Oldsmobile at Lansing in August of the same year, then from
March, 1968, for two years was in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam.
  Curtiss married Julie Wencel of Charlotte May 31, 1968, and had attended the
Congregational Church at Charlotte and was employed at Oldsmobile at the time of his illness.
   Surviving are his wife, Julia of Lake Odessa;  a three year old daughter, Tammy;
his mother, Mrs. Lloyd (Bernadine) Stalter of Lake Odessa;  his father, James Baum of Drayton Plains; 
three brothers, Charles (Mick) VanDeVelde and Jon Stalter of Lake Odessa and Monte Baum of Charlotte.
