Gladys M. Baum, 83, of 521 Lincoln, Portland, died Nov. 17 at her residence. 
Born March 13, 1901 in Danby Township, she was the daughter of Horace and Veda
Crane Cooper.  Her husband Corwin preceded her in death in 1973.

She was a retired teacher, having taught for 43 years, including schools in
Akron, Ohio, Holland, Portland, Hubbardston, Ionia and rural Ionia County.

Surviving are a son, L. Merwin Baum of Burnsville, Minn.; three grandsons; and
two sisters, Gertrude Brokaw of Eagle and Mildred Bennett of Lansing.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home, the
Rev. Dow Chamberlain officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  A
memorial has been established, in care of the funeral home.
