The Ionia Daily Standard, Tuesday, March 5, 1901

Emma Francis, wife of Arthur A. Baxter, proprietor of the American house, 
passed peacefully to her eternal rest, at 3:30 on Monday afternoon, the 
ailment being tuberculosis.  She was aged 25 years.  Mr. and Mrs. Baxter had 
been married 3 years, and a babe of 7 months survives the mother.  In her 
maidenhood she was Emma Francis McKimball; she was born in Bushnell, Montcalm 
county, and was a person of usually pleasant and modest demeanor—a brave 
little woman, truly.  Burial on Thursday afternoon, the funeral services being 
attended from the M. E. church at 2:30 p.m.
