The Lake Odessa Wave, Thursday, April 14, 1960
Archie W. Baxter, 81, of Grand Rapids, decorating contractor, for more than 4 
years died last Thursday after a long illness.  A native of Lake Odessa he had 
lived in Grand Rapids for many years and was a member of the charter 
commission for the city of East Grand Rapids as well as active in civic 
affairs.  He was the first president of the Grand Rapids chapter Painting and 
Decorating also a charter member and member of the first board of directors of 
the Builders and Traders Exchange, attended the Methodist church and a life 
member of F&AM No. 96.

Surviving are his wife Ella; one son John (Jack) of Grand Rapids, two half 
sisters, Mrs. James Ladd of Tampa, Fla. and Mrs. Bernice Ladd of Kalamazoo. 

Funeral services were on Monday at the Metcalf Mortuary with burial in 
Garfield Park.
