Mrs. Effie J. Baxter, aged 81 years passed away Monday night June 8, at her 
home here after two weeks illness and a long period of failing health.  Mrs. 
Baxter was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abel Kendall and was born in New York 
April 7, 1855, but came with her parents to Michigan when she was quite young.  
January 8, 1872 she was united in marriage to Fred Baxter who was one of the 
early settlers in this locality.  All their married life was passed here or 
near Palo.  She had been a member of the Palo Baptist church for 42 years.  
Mrs. Baxter died in 1932.  Surviving is one son, Ernest H. Baxter, and a 
daughter-in-law.  

Funeral services conducted by Rev. F. J. Fitch of Palo were held at her late 
home Wednesday afternoon and burial was in the family lot in Palo cemetery.
