Dorothy Marie Brown Beach, 88, of Ionia passed away unexpectedly Aug. 16, 
2012,  in Ionia. She was born Oct. 3, 1923 in Ionia the daughter of Arthur E. 
and Edna (Spencer) Brown. Dorothy married Ronald Beach May 16, 1944 in Ionia.

She was a life member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday 
School, was in the choir, took part in the UMW and was a church trustee. She 
was a past member of Eastern Star, Ionia Country Club and Quilting Club. She 
was an avid golfer.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ronald Beach of Ionia; 
son, Stephen and Betty Beach of Florida; daughter, Judy and Paul Hoffman of 
North Carolina; grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Briggs, Sarah and Lee Hilis, 
Rachel and Brian Peeler, Joseph Hoffman, Jeffery and Anna Beach, Allison and 
Andy Halataei, Ashley and Travis McElheny and Mandy and Brian Lidgard; brother, 
Lawrence and Carole Brown of Grand Rapids; brother-in-law, Thomas Nobles of 
Flint; and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert; and two sisters, 
Edith Brown and Beatrice Nobles.

Funeral services will beheld at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at First United 
Methodist Church of Ionia with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Interment Balcom 
Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lake 
Funeral Home of Ionia and 10 a.m. Friday until time of service at the church.
