Dec. 23, 2016 FARRELL V. BEACH 1932-2016 Farrell V. Beach went to his heavenly home Dec. 21, 2016. He was 84 years old Farrell was born in Perrysburg, Ohio on June 27, 1932, only son of Lyle and Verla Mae Beach. He served in the Armed Forces as a Corporal in the European Theater after World War II in Germany during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. Farrell spoke fluent German. After the service, he lived in Saline, MI where his parents had a business and married Marilyn J. Walker and was married for 45 years. He went to work for Michigan Bell telephone and retired after 33 years of service. Farrell was a Mason in the Masonic Lodge, active and passionate about the union, fine guns, good bird dogs, hunting and fishing, and was the co-leader of the original Swinging Gaits 4-H Saddle Club. Together, they had 3 daughters; Bonnie (Tom) Beach-Listerman, Amanda "Gussie" (Doug) Powell, and Jean Beach and one grandson, Ryan Powell. In 1971, the family moved to Muir and he remained involved in the horse activities with his girls and 4-H for many years. In his senior years he lived in Florida and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He moved back to Ionia in 2015 and has been a resident at Heartland Health Care for the past year in declining health. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family would appreciate your thoughts and prayers and in the spirit of the season ask you to pay it forward to someone with an act of kindness. A celebration of his life and graveside services at North Plains Cemetery will be in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Ionia County 4-H Horse Committee-Farrell Beach to be used for awards for the Fair classes and the Citizenship award in memory of him.
