June 16, 2017 RONALD BEACH 1921-2017 Ronald D. Beach, 95, passed away June 10, 2017. He was born in Ionia, Michigan, on October 26, 1921. He spent the majority of his life in Ionia, except for when he served with the Coast Guard during WW II. In 2012, he came to Raleigh, North Carolina to live with his daughter and be near family, after his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Marie Beach, passed away. Ronald is the father of Judy (Paul) Hoffman of Raleigh and Steve (Betty) Beach of Fort Meyers, FL; grandfather of Jeff (Anna) Beach, Allison (Andy) Halataei, Ashley (Travis) McElheny, Mandy (Brian) Lidgard, Jennifer (Paul) Briggs, Sarah (Lee) Hilts, Rachel (Brian) Peeler, and Joseph P. Hoffman; great grandfather of Garrett, Mason, Andrew, Jane, Daniel, Ronald, Lorraine, Viktor, Masha, Klaudia, Laina, Tess, Brock, Ava, Owen, Aiden, and Cole; and sister Velma Courser of Ionia, Michigan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ionia for 78 years, serving as a Trustee and member of the Finance Committee and Pastor Parrish Committee. He worked for 44 years at the Mitchell Bentley Company, some of those years driving back and forth to Owosso, Michigan. He was an avid sportsman; playing baseball, fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing. Ronald was a big U of M fan and loved his Tigers. In his retirement years Ronald volunteered in his community by working at the soup kitchen, popping popcorn at the Ionia Theater, and enjoying winning golf tournaments with his wife Dorothy. He loved to play cards and give love and attention to his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He made friends wherever he went and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 17, at 12 p.m. at his home church, First United Methodist Church in Ionia.He will be laid to rest with his wife at Balcom Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, from 2-6p.m. at Lake Funeral Home of Ionia and Saturday 11 a.m. until time of service.
