The funeral was held from the Methodist church, Monday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Bancroft. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. Miss Beard had spent her entire lifetime in Portland, attending the public school and being a member of the class of 1924 which graduated this month. Although her illness forced her to relinquish her school work a number of weeks ago and participation in the festivities of her class during the closing of the term her diploma was presented to her, at her home by Supt. Bryan, several days before the class graduated. The members of the class attended the funeral in a body with John Lakin, Frederick Avery, Harold Hathaway, Raymond McCausey, Earl Hazel and Frank Hosey acting at pall-bearers. Besides the mother she is survived by three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Arthur Balderson and Miss Clara Beard, of Portland; Mrs. May Smith, of Toledo; Charles and John Beard, of Mason, South Dakota; Joseph and Robert, of Portland.
