Dale Duane Beard, born March 26, 1925 in Alma, Mich., passed away March 1, 2013.

As a celebrated World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific and was 
awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the Shiloh Community Church and 
the VFW Sheridan post.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Edith Beard and children, Dale 
(Heidi) Beard, Diane (Paul) Taylor, Mike (Peggy) Beard, Karen (Steve) Rich, Rob 
(Mary Ann) Beard, as well as 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren 
with one of the way.

Contributions can be made to Shiloh Community Church or VFW post in Sheridan 
Michigan for wounded veterans.

Visitation will be held on Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 Rich 
St. in Ionia, Mich. Funeral services will be at 22 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh 
Community Church followed by a luncheon at the church.
