Robert Beard, 92, of Lake Odessa, passed away with family by his side on 
Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Country Living Adult Foster Care, Portland. He was 
born April 3, 1921 to Ernest and Alice (Durkee) Beard.

Robert was a lifelong member of the Central United Methodist Church of Lake 
Odessa. On March 14, 1943 he married Wanda Jackson; together they farmed until 
her death on May 25, 2001.

Survivors include his children, Larry Beard of Burton, Elaine (Gary) Gillespie 
of Williamston, Susan (Dan) Shotwell of Eaton Rapids, Ronald (Jill) Beard of 
Lake Odessa, Norman Beard of Lake Odessa, Nancy (Dale) Miller of Lake Odessa 
and Annette (Jack) Bartholomew of Saranac; along with 15 grandchildren, 10 
great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, and special friends Richard 
and Ron Richardson of Burton.

Visitation for Robert will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at 
Koops Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave., Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Funeral services 
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Koops Funeral Chapel with 
interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Country Living AFC, 
7884 Emery Road Portland, MI 48875 or the Lake Odessa Public Library building 
fund, 1007 4th Ave., Lake Odessa, MI 48849.
