L. BEARD RELEASED AFTER LONG SUFFERING Another old resident of this vicinity and village passed to his reward last Thursday evening when William Beard, after a long siege with disease was released by death. Mr. Beard's condition has been critical for a long time and death has been expected for weeks. He was a farmer living west of the village until last April when he and his wife moved to the village, buying the Ernest Wells home on 6th avenue. He was one of the sturdy men of the vicinity with a firm, upright character and leaves a life that is an example for his children. The funeral was held at the Liberal U. B. church Sunday 2 p.m.. By request of the deceased the discoures was delivered by Rev. John Miers of Charlotte, assisted by the pastor. The remains were laid to rest in Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY William Lewis Beard was born April 10th, 1848, in Ohio and departed this life Dec. 9, 1920 at his home in Lake Odessa age 72 years, 7 months, 29 days. He was united in marriage to Clarissa Annn Morrow July 4th, 1874. To this union three children were born, Venia D. of Odessa, Byron W. of Lansing Ernest L. J. of Odessa. He was covered and joined the U. B. church in winter of 1896 at the revival services carried on at that time by Rev. John Miers at the old church in West Odessa and had lived an ernest christian life, ready for the final summons. He with his bride settled on a farm in West Odessa where he spent his entire married life up until April 1st this year, when he was moved to their new home in Lake Odessa. He has been a patient sufferer since September 1st, 1919, never complaining of his affliction, always hoping to be better. He was a kind husband and a loving father, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him best. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one daughter, Mrs. John Begerow of Odessa, two sons, Bryon W. of Lansing an Ernest L. J. on the old home farm, and ten grandchildren, two sisters and many friends.
