The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, September 11, 1962
Funeral service for Mrs. Lelia B. Beard, 59, of 418 North Street, who died 
Thursday morning at Ionia County Memorial Hospital, was held Saturday at 2 
p.m.  The Rev. Harold A. Jayne, pastor of First Methodist church, officiated, 
and interment was at McBride cemetery.

Mrs. Beard is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Barney Szumal of Mt. Clemens, 
Mrs. Guy Messecar of Lansing, and Mrs. Raymond Rogers of Ionia; one son, 
Robert E. Beard of Ionia; four grandchildren; two brothers, Arlie Crawford of 
Barryton, and Otto of Lakeview; and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Buholtz and Mrs. 
Bessie Neitzel of Stanton.  

Bearers were Thomas Szumal, David Szumal, Morris Hansen, Edward Hansen, 
Maurice Bice and Thomas Luther.  Out of town persons attending were from Mt. 
Clemens, Lansing, Barryton, Lakeview, Stanton, Detroit, and Cannon Falls, Minn.
